About
Gavin Luke is a versatile Composer for film, television and video games whose compositions are as diverse as the many projects he has worked on. Whether it is a dark and haunting melody, an emotional cinematic score or a lively orchestral suite, Gavin has the unique ability to seamlessly weave a score into any medium.
Born in the upper Midwest of the United States, Gavin’s musical talents began at an early age. At age three he started a one-man band which included a kazoo, a rattle and any object that made a really loud bang. After mastering these instruments, Gavin was introduced to a more evolved instrument known as “The Piano”. Soon piano lesson began at the acclaimed MacPhail Center for Music, followed by the dreaded piano recitals. Gavin’s teenage years brought much rebellion, but not in the way most teenagers rebel. Two things happened once Gavin entered high school. Well, actually several things happened once Gavin entered high school, but these other things are irrelevant. However, musically speaking, Gavin discovered a love for film and film music (and also a girl named Mary, but again, irrelevant here). His passion for composing became apparent as he began rewriting passages to several Beethoven and Brahms Sonatas (neither Gavin’s Instructor, Beethoven or Brahms approved of this).
After High School, Gavin was accepted into Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. It was there that he refined his compositional skills and built a solid foundation in music theory and music technology. After college, Gavin began scoring small independent films and building a reputation as a valuable resource for filmmakers and broadcasters alike.
Today, Gavin continues to expand his composing repertoire while always on the lookout to meet new filmmakers and take on new projects. He also continues to rewrite passages from various Beethoven and Brahms Sonatas.
